Move a little more to look a lot better

We’re almost at the end of No Nonsense November. I hope that you have been inspired and motivated to take a no nonsense approach to your gym sessions and nutrition. People often complain to me that they don’t have enough time to exercise. If you are serious about trying to move a little more (because that’s what your body is designed to do), then I have some ideas for you…

Move a little more as you go about your day

As we’ve already discussed this month, your body is not designed to be sedentary. However, so many of you work at a desk all day. Sitting for such long periods of time is not good for either your blood flow or your concentration.

Try to move a little more: every 30 minutes stand up and do a few squats. This will improve both your circulation and concentration, so it’s a win-win situation.

During your lunch hour, try to get your errands done whilst walking briskly. Even if you need to drive to a mall first, walking briskly will ensure that you move a little more while you tick off items on your ‘to do’ list. While you’re standing in a queue, flex your abs for a few seconds and do 10 reps.

At this time of year, lots of office parties are being planned. I think it’s fair to say that most office parties revolve around drinking. Not only does this pile on the liquid calories, but when you drink more you tend to eat more. And we all know how unhealthy those party snacks are!

Instead of organising the same old office party, this year try to move a little more.

Arrange a fun activity for your office, such as indoor rock climbing. You will definitely move a little more, and have more than a little fun doing so!
