3 tips for weight loss training

Have you tried everything under the sun and can’t quite manage to shift that unwanted body fat?

Number one: Mindset

 Before I even start giving you strategies on how to lose the weight, we need to first look at your most powerful tool- your mindset. For a lot of people, they know they want to lose weight (that’s a given), but if you’re embarking on your weight loss journey I’d encourage you to ask yourself the following questions:

Why do I want to lose weight?

How am I going to feel when I lose the weight?

How am I going to feel if I take no action and do not lose the weight?

The answers to these key questions are what’s going to be the real driving force in your motivation, so you need to take the time to find out what’s going to get you pumped to begin. Its something that works incredibly well for my clients and it will work for you to.

Number two: Action plan and strategy

Now that we know what your underling motivation is, there needs to be an action plan and strategy for moving forward.

Whatever your goal setting for weight loss, I’d encourage you to map out the following:

Get specific – exactly how much weight do you want to lose? How do you want to look?

Measurable – you need to track and measure your results regularly throughout the process. Some of the methods we use at VL Fitness are photos, measurements and keeping track of personal bests.

Achievable – Imagine you have all the resources available to achieve your weight loss goal. Are your family and/or partner supportive? Do you need support from a coach and nutritionist to assist you with the diet?

Without the right support and advice from the experts, you are more likely to have a negative weight loss experience.

Time bound – Have a date you would like to start seeing progress and progression. Keep in mind it’s better to keep this date realistic and achievable. People that lose weight super fast put in back on just as quickly!

Number three: Be Accountable

This step links in with the section on setting an achievable goal but I wanted to go in a little deeper here, as accountability is critical when losing weight. Unless you’re one of the 1% of people that are completely self-motivated, you’ll need someone to hold you accountable as you move through achieving your weight loss goal.
